On 11 and 12 September I had the honor to paint live on stage during two of Amanda Palmer’s incredible shows. Both concerts pretty much sold out, and were given in in the beautiful Union Chapel in London. The second night the painting – a careful blend of my hand and the dynamics and intensity of Amanda’s music – was auctioned.

On this occasion I worked with Indian ink on a large canvas, brushing and wiping layers of ink. The effect you get when doing this, is a charcoal finish. I love the textures you can achieve with this technique: everything from raw brush strokes to fine shades. And when dry, the work doesn’t smudge as much as a charcoal drawing.
